Scotch is whisky made in Scotland, by law from malted barley (or other grains for blends), aged a minimum of 3 years in oak. What makes Scotch so varied is geography — different regions have their own traditions, water sources, and (most famously) levels of peat smoke, which can range from completely absent to intensely smoky.
Great for: neat sippers · smoke & peat fans · guests exploring beyond bourbon
The most whiskies come from here. Elegant, fruity, often sweeter — think apple, honey, vanilla.
A huge, varied region — can be light and floral or rich and full-bodied, sometimes lightly smoky.
Small island, big smoke. Known for bold, peaty, medicinal, almost campfire-like whiskies.
Light, soft, and grassy — often the gentlest style, sometimes triple-distilled.
Outside Islay (Skye, Orkney, etc.) — often a middle ground: some smoke, some salt, some sweetness.
Tiny region, big character — briny, slightly smoky, often described as having a "funk."
Made at one distillery, from malted barley only. Showcases that distillery's specific character and house style.
A mix of malt and grain whiskies from multiple distilleries, blended for a consistent, often smoother, more approachable profile.
